Postcode District to MSOA

Sometimes we only have data by Postcode District and we need values by MSOA. Postcode Districts and MSOAs don't share borders and aren't heirarchical so it is not possible to uniquely map from Postcode District to MSOA; a Postcode District may contain parts or all of several MSOAs. We will attempt to produce figures for each MSOA but you should note that the MSOA values should be treated as approximate, not correct. Different methods of mapping will produce different MSOA values.

Method of mapping: Sum of all matching postcode district values Split by proportion of postcodes in that MSOA

For every MSOA we sum up all the Postcode District values associated with this MSOA even if only part of the MSOA is in the Postcode District. For instance, the entire value for LS2 is given to E02002384, E02002392, E02002393, E02002400, and E02006875. This method leads to double accounting but that may be OK depending on what you are doing.
